Congratulations to Clearcreek Christian/Springboro, the 2001 Ohio State JBQ champions! This is their 1st State Championship in eight years and third overall. Round one, of all rounds, turned out to be the telling round in this years tournament. Capital City and Clearcreek squared off in that round. With 12 questions guessed, it was very obvious that both teams were nervious and had a lot of respect for each other. In the end Clearcreek was early less often and prevailed 155 to 105. Capital City then went on to amass the most impressive series of wins in recent memory. Amassing 1535 points in 6 rounds, a very impressive feat indeed. Toledo Calvary finished 3rd with a 4 and 3 record beating out New Life/Poland by viture of a head to head win. State Champions Clearcreek heads to Nationals for the 4th time in five years, while Capitol City will attend for the 2nd straight year.(12th last year) Toledo Calvary, a Nationals invitee last year and New Life/Poland, a first time invitee, will be able to attend Regional competition where they can also qualify for Nationals by virtue of finishing in the top four.
Congratulations are in order for the other teams that qualified for the Masters Division. Findlay First/Findlay, Highway Tabernacle/Youngstown, Bethel Temple/Dayton, and First Christian/Cincinnati. Qualifying for the Masters Division is an honor and we salute these teams hard work!
Another item of interest is that scores in all divisions were up this year, especially in the Searchers and Discover divisions. Higher scores means more knowledge! This is a great tend and lets pray it continues as our young learn about God's word!
The following are the team and individual results from Ohio's 6 divisions. This ends another great year of JBQ in Ohio. Don't forget to pray for the leadership in the State and your church. Where would we be without them?
