Schedules Set for JBQ 2003-2004 ...
-- July 19, 2003

Please note that last year's results are available for each meet. Last year we had floating leagues, and the feedback from across the state was very positive. So we will be doing it again this year. At this point, we are scheduling churches to host the meets this year. If your church is willing to host a meet, please contact Pastor Barry Jorris.

Coach's Training Offered ...
-- July 19, 2003

Attention all JBQ coaches! Mark down August 15th - 16th on the your calendar and plan to attend the first Great Lakes Regional Coach's Training. It will be held at the Indiana District Campgrounds in Hartford City. Those who will be teaching workshops and sharing ideas have been to Nationals and know what it takes to get there. As you begin implementing what you will learn, your teams will improve and become more competitive. This will encourage your quizzers to keep learning God's Word. And who knows? You might even find yourself at the National JBQ Festival in June. For more information, please contact Pastor Barry Jorris.

The Oaks Fellowship Wins Nationals!
Indiana Shows Well ...
-- June 15, 2002

On June 13th-14th, our 3 National qualifiers joined the top teams from across the nation at Calvary Church in Napervillie, Illinois for the JBQ National Festival. After the 71 teams had completed 2 days of quizzing, The Oaks Fellowship from Dallas, Texas was declared National Champion (winning the breaker among 4 teams tied for 1st). From the Great Lakes Region, Clearcreek Christian from Springboro, Ohio came in 4th (having the fewest points of the 4 that tied for 1st). For Indiana, Elkhart Calvary - Patience earned 8th place, Lafayette First 13th place, and Elkhart Calvary - Self Control 14th place. We can very proud of these teams. They represented Indiana very well. Check out the complete official results..

The GLR features teams from Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Each state sent their top 4 teams this year. The 20 teams played a complete round robin over the two days. When it was all over and the dust had settled, Dayton, Ohio was crowned GLR Champion! Next, there was a 3-way tie for 2nd; based on the the tie-breaker (total points), 2nd place was award to Clearcreek Christian from Springboro, Ohio, 3rd to Lafayette First, and 4th to Elkhart Calvary - Patience. Both Lafayette and Elkhart - Patience qualified for Nationals and will join Elkhart Calvary - Self Control (11th at the GLR) in representing Indiana at the National Festival in June.

The excitement was high and the competition fierce. When it was all said and done, Elkhart Calvary had earned the top prize in both divisions. Elkhart - Self Control was crowned the Searcher Division Champion, and Elkhart - Goodness, who went undefeated, was crowned the Discover Division Champion.

Meet 4 - Cool!
-- February 1, 2003

The theme for the fourth meet was the 1950s. There were cute girls with pony tails wearing poodle skirts or pedal pushers. There were nerds with taped glasses and high-water trousers. And of course there were tough guys with leather jackets and slicked back hair ... eh! One meet even had Principal Tom Sinex and his high school sweetheart Sue. It was a fun day for quizzers and parents alike.

The top teams from the 5 leagues in the Searcher Division were Lafayette First #3 - Sweet Tarts, Elkhart Calvary - Love, Lewisville, Eagle Creek, and Mt. Vernon Harvestime - A. In the Discover Division, the top teams were Lafayette First, Fort Wayne - Loving Lemons, New Castle, Elletsville First - B, and Evansville - Good Shepherd A.

Corvette Classic - Indiana Cars Photo Finish for 4th!
-- January 17-18, 2003

Each January, Living Hope Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Kentucky hosts the Corvette Classic. Once again, Steve Owen, Donald Wade, and their wonderful staff put on what has become the premier JBQ invitational this side of Nationals. This year 18 A teams (10s, 20s, and 30s) traveled from as far away as Pleasanton, Texas (1060 miles!) to compete on Friday evening, the 17th, and all day Saturday, the 18th.

This year Ohio and Arkansas took the top three spots at the annual Corvette Classic. Capital City of Columbus, Ohio finished in 1st (16-1), North Little Rock, Arkansas in 2nd (14-3), and Springboro, Ohio in 3rd (14-3). Arkansas won their match against Springboro to break the tie for 2nd. Then there were 3 Indiana teams tied for 4th with 12-5 records. The tie breaker for 3 teams was points. So Lafayette finished 4th, Elkhart - Self Control 5th, and Dayton 6th. The other Elkhart team, Patience, finished 7th (10-7), and Fort Wayne's Peaceful Plums finished 16th (3-14). Check out complete results via Corvette 2003.

When you think of JBQ, you think of quizzing. But the Corvette is more, much more. This invitational is first class because "everything is run so well", because "the people of Living Hope Baptist Church are so friendly", and because "The Corvette is cool!" Between the last round of quizzing and the awards, Living Hope provided a comptemporary band and numerous door prizes for quizzers, officials, and coaches. At the awards, they presented trophies to the top 5 teams and the top 10 quizzers. Each trophy had a model Corvette Stingray on top. Pastor Barry stresses that JBQ should be fun. Well, the Corvette is fun!

Meet 3 - Only My Hair Dresser Knows for Sure!
-- January 4, 2003

At the third meet, the theme was Crazy Hair Day. Whether spiked, colored, decorated, shaved, brushed, or combed, the order of the day was craziness in the hair dressing department. Once again it was fun to see nicely dressed quizzers and coaches vying for the most outrageous "hair dos", or would it be more accurate to call them "hair don'ts"?

The top teams from the 5 leagues in the Searcher Division were Elkhart Calvary - Peace, Dayton - Instant Interrupters, Indy Calvary Temple #1, Lafayette First #3, and Newburgh Abundant Life. In the Discover Division, the top teams were Elkhart Calvary - Goodness, Dayton - Awesome Answers, Elletsville First A, Lafayette First, and Evansville - Good Shepherd A. In the Pee Wee Division, the top teams were Elkhart Calvary - Self Control 2, Greenwood #1, and Newburgh Abundant Life.

Meet 2 - PJs on Parade!
-- November 16, 2002

At the second meet, the theme was Pajama Day. Oddly, even though many quizzers, coaches, and officials were wearing their jammies, everyone's hair was nicely combed (except those sporting curlers), and the quizzers were wide awake when the quizzing started. The top teams from the 5 leagues in the Searcher Division were Elkhart - Kindness, Lafayette #3, TBD, ECAG Girls, and Newburgh Abundant Life. In the Discover Division, the top teams were Elkhart - Faithfulness, Lafayette, TBD, Elletsville First - 1, and Harvestime B.
